Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. It has received official recognition from governments in the United

States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland, and the United Kingdom. In keeping with this tradition we will focus on Brightside Business Empowerment

Two celebrated observances influence our Women Business Empowerment Series. The first is International Woman's Day which is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights,

and violence and abuse against women and Women;s History Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society.

Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22, 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org including

1 billion people in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet.
